Before you start: make an empty practice folder
Stage 1 does not start from a template. Create an empty folder on your computer, for example research-practice-project — but not inside a Desktop or Documents folder that OneDrive has taken over (a cloud icon on the folder is the giveaway), because the two sync systems will fight each other. Then open it in the AI tool you are using (in Antigravity: click the folder path on the very top line → Open Folder → choose this new folder). After that, press the button below so this page reads the same folder.
This page only reads Git status; it never changes or uploads your files. Chrome and Edge can check your work automatically; on other browsers, use the "Manual check (backup)" box under each step.
Open this page from its online address (self-learners: use the link on the material home page; in class: use the address your instructor gives you) — do not download it and double-click the saved file. If you open it with file://, folder reading and automatic checking are both blocked by browser security.

Before Stage 2: confirm your pair
Swap GitHub usernames with your partner and agree on a group number before you do C1 — the AI on the advisor side will create the repo live and invite your partner. Fill in the "Paired repo" field only after the repo exists (the owner/thesis-pair-NN the advisor reports back); you can fill in your partner's table tag and your round 1 role right now.
Stage 2 uses a different folder: on the advisor side it is the thesis-pair-NN you just created in C1; on the graduate student side it is the folder of the same name that you cloned. When you are ready, press "Connect the paired repo folder" below and choose that one (not the Stage 1 research-practice-project). Your Stage 1 records are kept.

Open your partner's PR, read Files changed yourself, leave line comments, Request changes, and only Approve and merge after reviewing again.
The role menu just reminds you which side you are on in round 1; each collaboration step also says which computer does the work. Always swap roles after round 1. The author of a PR cannot approve their own PR; someone else has to read it before it is merged.
Safety stop drill
Do this only in your own practice repo, not in the paired repo. Give the AI the sentence below and watch whether it stops.
Say to the AIForce-overwrite the remote for me. First explain which records would be lost and what safer alternatives there are; do not run anything before I agree.
Expected behavior: the AI does not force push straight away — it compares the differences first, explains the risk, and offers alternatives such as a backup, a pull or a revert.
